Margarida J. Quina,

Margarida J. Quina is Associate Professor with Habilitation at the Department of Chemical Engineering, University of Coimbra, Portugal. She holds a PhD (2006), a Master’s degree (1997), and a Diploma (1992) in Chemical Engineering from the University of Coimbra. She is a researcher at CERES – Chemical Engineering and Renewable Resources for Sustainability, where she served as Director from 2022 to 2026.
Her research focuses on circular economy, biorefinery, sustainability, and the characterization, treatment, and valorization of waste and wastewater through integrated processes. Her main research areas include waste and wastewater management, nutrient recovery, anaerobic digestion and biogas production, composting, and soil remediation and conditioning.
She has authored/co-authored 146 peer-reviewed journal articles, 23 book chapters, and one book, and has participated in and/or coordinated more than 50 national and international research projects. Her current H-index is 38 (Scopus ID: 23135614100).
